Print tolerances, materials, and file standards

Follow these engineering guidelines to get clean, dimensionally accurate prints on the first run.

Mesh standards
Geometry & mesh integrity
  • Export as watertight binary STL or 3MF format
  • Check non-manifold edges before submitting
  • Minimum wall thickness: 0.8 mm (FDM), 0.4 mm (SLA)
  • Align primary structural stresses parallel to layer orientation
Dimensions
Scale & unit verification
  • Set CAD working units strictly to millimeters (mm)
  • Maximum single-piece build envelope: 300 × 300 × 300 mm
  • Interlocking parts require 0.3 mm radial clearance
  • Standard dimensional tolerance: ±0.15 mm
Overhangs
Surface & support design
  • Self-supporting overhangs up to 45° require no support
  • Horizontal bridging reliable up to 12 mm span
  • Threaded brass heat-set inserts: 0.2 mm undersized pilot holes
  • Chamfers preferred over bottom-edge fillets to avoid elephant's foot
